DIY Whipped Lotion

DIY Whipped Lotion

Welcome back friends!

I love to share all of my recipes with you guys, which is why I started this blog in the first place! So I thought I’d share all my low-waste and diy recipes as well!

I have a nightly routine (as most people do) and part of my routine is moisturizing my body, with the typical lotion in the big plastic bottles, not knowing all the ingredients listed on the label, just all around not a good choice. So of course I had to try and make my own, all natural, no added dyes or chemicals and all put into my own little glass jar! (I bought all my ingredients in bulk which will last me a looooong time)

This whipped lotion is light, fluffy and super moisturizing! It has a faint smell of cocoa (I wanted to eat it so bad, but DON’T DO THAT!) Only 4 simple ingredients!

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup shea butter

  • 1/4 cup cocoa butter

  • 1/4 cup sweet almond oil

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil

How it’s done:

  1. Start by measuring out all your ingredients and combining them in a large bowl.

  2. Next, melt all ingredients, I did the double boiler method. Get a large pot with water to a rolling boil, place your bowl on top of the pot and use the steam to melt your ingredients until fully liquified.

  3. Once liquid take off the stove and place into the freezer for 45 minutes or until hardened but still soft enough to stick your finger into it. (like a thick lotion)

  4. Now is the fun part, whipping the lotion! Get a hand mixer or hand blender and mix on medium high until nice and fluffy almost like whipped cream (see photo above for reference) this will take a little while so just stay patient.

  5. Now you can put it all into your own jar and enjoy all the benefits! (waste free and non toxic, WIN WIN!)
