Apple spice baked french toast

Ohhhhhh yes, it’s time to get nice ‘n cozy! The weather everywhere is getting colder and all i’ve been craving is some warm comfort food. My typical cozy comfort breakfast is french toast but why not take it up a notch and make it APPLE SPICED FRENCH TOAST! An added plus: it makes your home smell AMAZING.


Ingredients:

  • 5 slices of bread

  • 1 c plant based milk (I used cashew)

  • 1/4 c unsweet apple sauce

  • 4 eggs (or flax eggs)

  • 1 tbs real maple syrup

  • 1/2 tbs cinnamon

  • 1 medium apple

  • 8x8 inch oven safe pan or dish

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  1. Start by slicing 5 pieces of bread in half short ways.

  2. Next, grab a large bowl and combine milk, eggs, maple syrup, apple sauce and cinnamon. Whisk until everything is combined.

  3. Now, grab your bread and dunk each piece in your egg mixture until saturated then place the slice in your pan/baking dish layering them at an angle in your dish (shown above in final photo). Once all of your slices are saturated pour the rest of the mixture over your slices.

  4. Now cut up half of your apple and sprinkle small chunks on top of your french toast. Place into the oven for 25-30 minutes or until all liquid has cooked all the way through and everything is golden brown.

  5. Once done, remove from the oven, top with the other half of apple chunks and drizzle some maple syrup on top! ENJOY!
